Minutes of the meeting

Annual winter banquet was held at Mitzel’s on February 11, 2012.

6:00 pm – Social hour and dinner

8:30 pm – Meeting

President Ron Trask called the meeting to order at 8:30 pm.

 

The minutes of the last year’s meeting was read and approved.

 

The motion was made, seconded and passed to elect the following board members:

  • Ron Trask – President
  • Scott Harrison – Vice President
  • Carol Ptak – Secretary
  • Carol Amtower – Treasurer
  • Board of directors –Todd Emery, Barry Wild, Mike Smith

 

Discussion was held that we need to encourage others to step to officer positions.

Dues are due from the membership by March 1. A reminder will be sent out to anyone who has not renewed their dues.

 

Report on members – Bill Cox passed away. Gary Weitenhagen had a stroke but is doing better.

 

Discussion was held about needing a new trailer double axle (16 feet) with a 7 foot ceiling and a new barbeque. Pat Fleege moved and Barry Wild seconded a motion to purchase a new trailer and barbeque. Anyone that sees a good bargain should call Mike Smith who offered to coordinate purchase.

 

Mark Spong reported that we can get an annual contract with the fort – the first approval takes 6 months - renewals take only 2 weeks The NWFTC contract expired in August. There cannot be general overnight on the grounds. The club would like to use these grounds for training and fun trials. As long as we renew on time we should have the grounds for a long time. Ron asked that Carol send an e-mail to the club asking about how many people want to train on a regular basis.

 

Discussion was held about how we grow this club and meet the needs of the new members.

 

Pat Fleege moved and Todd Emery seconded that GSBDA advertise in the Upland Game Regulations. Promote pointing dogs in different competitive and hunting venues. Carol will take care of the ad.

 

Mark Spong moved and Carol Amtower seconded that non-members pay $15 for their first year of membership.

 

Mark reviewed possible training dates at Scatter Creek for March 17, April 28, May 12. Walt offered to run a fun trial once we have the fort. An idea was discussed to have a potluck picnic during the summer.

 

Mike reported that our trophy materials have been moved to another trophy company.

 

The Mary Kopinski Cup was awarded to Mike Smith for the seventh time – Congratulations to Mike – again! Great job to Max this year. Max is the only dog to win the NSTRA regional twice in a row.

 

Sportsman’s Award went to Todd Emery because of his great scheduling of the training days.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 9:34 pm.
